What's involved?

This stress management programme is delivered completely online, therefore, in order to participate, candidates must have a functioning email address and regular access to the internet.

In order to explain what's involved, the process of the programme will be discussed in easy-to-follow steps:

  1. Participants must first register for the programme by emailing k.barrett7@nuigalway.ie.
  2. Participants then complete the Stress Management Questionnaire for the first time.
  3. After participants have completed the questionnaire, they are randomly assigned to either the Acceptance and Commitment Therapy programme, or an alternative stress management intervention.
  4. Participants will be emailed with the details of the website, as well as the passwords needed to access Sessions 1 and 2 of the programme.
  5. Participants will complete Session 1 and Session 2 in the first week of the programme.
  6. After having access to Sessions 1 and 2 for one week, participants will be emailed the password for Session 3.
  7. One week after being given access to Session 3, participants will be emailed the Stress Management Questionnaire once again, in order to measure the effects of the stress management programme over time.
  8. In total, participants will complete the Stress Management Questionnaire 2 times, once before the programme begins, and once immediately after the programme ends.
  9. During the programme, participants will be required to complete a number of exercises, which will include watching videos, providing feedback about the programme, and completing forms. Therefore, it may be useful for candidates to have a notebook when completing the programme. This will help to keep your materials organised, as well as making it easier to revisit topics which have already been covered in previous sessions.
